Comment
After Raphael's lost preparatory study, probably a fairly finished model, for the fresco in the Stanza della Segnatura. The print shows stylistic inconsistency, and it was recognized that the plate was not entirely engraved by Marcantonio Raimondi but finished by an assistant. This hypothesis was proven by a proof impression in the Cleveland Museum of Art, for which see Shoemaker.
