Titled erroneously by Vasari and Bartsch 'Martyrdom of St Felicity'. After a preparatory drawing by Raphael for the fresco in the Chapel of San Giovanni in the Villa Pontificia Magliana, commissioned by Leo X and executed by Raphael's assistants c.1517-19. A drawing in Dresden is believed to be the model for the print, while another drawing in the Albertina is probably a copy of the composition.
