Comment
Shoemaker accepts Konrad Oberhuber's opinion that the firmness and precision of technique is related to Marcantonio Raimondi's study of Albrecht Dürer. On the basis of the figure's similarity to Marcantonio's drawing of the Apollo Belvedere (Bayonne, Musée Bonnat, inv. no. 225), he favours that it was after Marcantonio's own design.
